Bumble Bee on Blueberry Blossom
The blueberries are in bloom and I am thankful for the humble bumble bee!
Bombus Impatiens, an important pollinator. There were four buzzing around me as I shot some photos, impatient with my presence.
I left them to their important work, gratefully anticipating summer’s harvest.
Thanks!

The photo was cropped a little, so I wasn’t as close as it appears! However, I read a little tip that bees don’t like the smell of a mammals breath. If you can manage to hold your breath a little while they calm down.

You are one brave photographer to get that close to the bee

Thanks! Love your choice! One of the reasons our peach tree is does not bear edible fruit (except for the squirrels), it’s been diseased for several years but we don’t want chemical management.

We had a family discussion this week about whether or not to use bee-destroying neonicotinoid for a bug infestation in the azaleas, and am happy to report, that no, we decided we’d rather lose the azaleas. Love your blueberry blossom photo.
